A salmon from the Eany
The season is coming to a close. Much too soon, as always.
Though this time of year is full of colour, there is a bit of melancholy in the air as well; at least for the game angler in me.

One last fish, on the shrimp fly, from the Eany, before it is all over for another year.

At St. John's Point
Sebastian Kapretz wants to know it all.
Giving instructions on how to catch mackerel at St. John's Point.

There are still a few about.

St. John's Point
The Beach at St. John's Point.
My dear Iris is watching while I try to catch the supper.
Actually perfect conditions for a few mackerel. Just a light breeze and a few drops of rain.
But apart from a Starfish nothing took my lure.

Good dose of rain
Good stuff, a bit of wind and a good dose of rain. High up in the Donegal Mountains.
Big Trout from a mountain lake. This is the biggest trout we have caught in
20 years of mountain lake fishing.
And all I say is this: it took a size 12 Bibio and was carefully returned.
Let's hope this feller spawns and all his offspring grow big.

Tropical Heatwave
Still unbelievably hot in Ireland.

So, instead of lots of Salmon and Trout the versatile angler catches Mackerel
and Pollack.

Fish from the Owenea
What a nice fish from the Owenea.

A 12 1/2 pound Salmon produces a big smile on every Angler's face. No doubt.

A bit of rain

The first bit of rain in a long while.

Just enough to bring a few Grilse up the Owenea River.
This one took a Shrimp Fly.

Erne-Shannon Explored
Filming, fishing and boating on the Irish Inland Waterways.

A fantastic experience.
We started our trip on Lower Lough Erne,
moved then along to Upper Lough Erne.
Cameraman Linus Schaaf filming Brendan Moran and me on an Upper Lough Erne island.
On Devenish island near Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh.
Shoals of perch could be seen almost everywhere on the journey.
Every now and then I was allowed to fish for half an hour, all the rest of the trip was work, work, work.
Looking good. Perch from Upper Lough Erne.

On the Shannon-Erne Waterway.

Near Ardara, Co. Donegal
Glengesh Pass near Ardara, Co. Donegal.
Ray walking towards Lough McHugh, high up in the Blue Stacks, near
Ardara.
Thankfully I caught a trout in Lough McHugh, that saved the day and produced
a few smiles.
