September 2007

Back from our European adventure, there is only the month of September left for trout and salmon fishing.

Autum colours everywhere.

Ray on the way up to the lakes at Glencolumbcille, Co. Donegal.

Enjoying the splendid views.

Happy anglers in the hills of Donegal.

Under the rainbow at the Owenea River.
One last salmon takes the Masquerade.

The last day of the season and we are at Lough Slug up in the Blue Stack Mountains.

But before the fishing can commence, we had to untangle the rods and lines and flies. Thanks to Ray for packing it so nice and neat into the car.

We had a few trout in no time at all, and Ted was giving Ray advice on how to clean the loot.

Nice pink fleshed fellers they were.

Ray paints the Owenea

Ray painted the Owenea.

Both pictures show pools of the Glenties stretch.

Those who know them, know them, and for those who don't: the picture on the top shows the stretch below the bridge at the footballfield; the picture on the right shows the bend above the Glenties turf-bridge.

Ray proudly presents

Ray proudly presents his new gear. No more heavy raincoats, just posh breathable stuff from now on in.

And exactly the right conditions to check, whether the Jacket and trousers are truly waterproof; for our Swedish adventure later in the year.

No wind, no rain, but we got a few trout anyway.

Ray isn't fishing all day long every day

Just to show that Ray isn't fishing all day long.

Sometimes he gets these urges, and then he produces all sorts of paintings; like true artists do.

Ray's theory

Ray's theory: you'll never catch fish when it is dry and sunny.

But it's at least a nice picture of Lough Free.
