Salmon from the Owenea
Great water in the Owenea. Ray and me fishing the lower reaches of this splendid Donegal River.
Ray has one just above the "Little Footbridge".
Not a very big one, but it produces a smile nevertheless.
Mine is not much bigger, but at least we have a wee fish to eat.
At the Owenea towards Ardara.
Ray and Otmar and Me up at Glencolumbcille
Ray tells Otmar where all those lakes are; up at Glencolumbcille. Yonder that there hill.
It is a fair old walk to get up to the lakes, but you are always rewarded. Splendid views all around.
Can't believe my luck. I catch a good brownie on a Wickham's straight away.
And Ray soon has one on a Bibio.

My first Salmon of the Season
Whilst Ray is chewing up a cast, I hook my first salmon of the season and the day with the very first cast. Lucky me, or is it just the skill?
The fish took a Masquerade and is not that easy to land in the "Crooked Hole", one of the many well known pools of the Owenea.
There we have it.
There is one jumping at the "Yellow Banks" and just a bit further down I'm into my second one.
Again on the Masquerade.
Not as big as the first one, but I am a happy man all the same.
You don't go home with two salmon every day.

Brown Trout at Lough Carrowmore
Lough Carrowmore in County Mayo is famous for Salmon and Sea Trout, but has nice Brown Trout also.
What more do you want. I caught about a dozen or so in this georgeous water. All very close in and most of them took the Wickham's.
Lough Inchiquin
Sarah Buettner and me on the way down to Lough Inchiquin near Corofin, Co.
Clare.
The lake has big trout, but we only managed to rise two of them. Maybe
another day.
Lough Geeta
Great view on the way to Geeta, Co. Donegal.
It will take you about 45 minutes to get from the nearest road to Lough Geeta, but it is worth a little walk.
Ray Robinson, just striking into a Brown Trout.
There we have it.
And that's me just landing one.
What more do you want?
Fishing Lough Mask
Towards mighty Lough Mask, Co. Mayo.
Churchfield Shore at Toormaceady, a good place for bankfishing.
Me at Cuslough Bay, ready for a filming session on Mask.
Ruediger Trautmann and Liam Gavin looking out for a Lough Mask trout.
Unfortunately though; apart from a few perch nothing showed much interest in our flies.
But eventually we at least managed to see a few of these Lough Mask monster trouts.
